Democrats Whine About Troop Redeployments

Written on August 21, 2004

As soon as President Bush announced he would withdraw 70,000 U.S. troops from Old Europe and South Korea — to reposition them to better fight the war on terror — the Democrats went into full seethe mode. Yesterday, we outlined how John Kerry is hiding behind Admiral Stansfield Turner on this issue. On Friday, Charles Krauthammer also discussed the Democrat’s willingness to sacrifice our national security in exchange for a few votes.

Wesley Clark is one of the main whiners looking for political gain at the expense of American lives:

As we face a global war on terror with Al Qaeda active in more than 60 countries, now is not the time to pull-back our forces.

So the 72,000 troops in Europe are busy protecting German disco halls?

Wes, Wes, Wes. With this type of rhetoric, you are showing American that you really are a Supreme Idiot.

According to Mr. Krauthammer, the New York Times (of course) also bemoans the move:

[T]he military will also lose the advantage that comes with giving large numbers of its men and women the experience of living in other cultures.

Repeat after me: The military is not — NOT — a social program. Why is it that so many liberals can’t get that through their thick, 1960s pot-filled skulls? The military does not exist to expose the troops to “living in other cultures.” Besides, since Europe and the United States are not that far apart when it comes to basic values, but the United States and the Middle East are, wouldn’t it make sense — using the Times’ own argument — to move the troops to the Middle East precisely because it will expose them to another culture?

As hard as it is for liberals to accept, the military exists to defend our country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. This includes taking the fight to the terrorists, so they remain foreign enemies. When we follow the Democratic policy of appeasement and social engineering, then al Qaeda becomes a domestic enemy.

Doesn’t anyone remember how 9/11 happened?
