It also looks like Ukrainian opposition leader Yuschenko may have been poisoned with a biological weapon:

Known for his ruggedly handsome, almost movie star looks, Yushchenko’s complexion is now pockmarked. His face is haggard, swollen and partially paralyzed. One eye often tears up.

At Rudolfinerhaus, Yushchenko underwent a week of intensive treatment for several illnesses, including acute pancreatitis, a viral skin disease and nerve paralysis on the left side of his face, Korpan said.

Clinic director Michael Zimpfer said doctors were unable to explain some of Yushchenko’s symptoms, particularly his strong backaches.

Zimpfer and the clinic’s chief physician, Dr. Lothar Wicke — who requested police protection after receiving an anonymous threat while treating Yushchenko — later asked for outside help from “a specialist in military operations and biological weapons,” the Austria Press Agency reported.

Yushchenko’s medical files since have been sealed and turned over to Austrian prosecutors, local media reported.

Here’s a “before and after” shot. I have only ever seen the “before” shot, though this appears to have been the situation since September.

The government claims this is simply a really bad case of rosacea brought about by stress. However, take a look at these images from a Google search and you’ll see why the condition is called rosacea: the face turns red, not grey as in Yushchenko’s photo.

Reneé, not a doctor but well-grounded in the medical field, immediately suspected a liver problem, which of course could be caused by a toxin of some sort. This is evidenced by his jaundiced, yellow-grey pallor.

This could be an entirely natural phenomenon, brought about by stress as the government claims, but the odds seem to be in favor of some other, less-than-natural event causing these symptoms. One thing that raises large red flags for me is that Yushchenko’s doctor was threatened for treating him. Another is that Yanukovich is strongly backed by Russia, a nation known to have stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons that doctors have never seen and therefore could not diagnose properly. Also, given Putin’s former position as a major in the KGB, he would not be above “dirty tricks” to support his own favored candidates.

This whole thing smells of a classic KGB operation. It appears to be a campaign to embarass through disfigurement and harass through physical pain and suffering the opposition candidate, but he is standing tall and refusing to give in.

He is a patriot, and he deserves our support.
