You Play, You Pay

Megan Leann Holden, a 19-year-old college student in Tyler, was abducted from the parking lot of the Wal-Mart where she had just gotten off work. Yesterday her body was found alongside a highway.

The abductor may well have gotten away, had it not been for a little Red State Justice:

Authorities said the man kept heading west as he continued his crime spree.

It was during a robbery attempt at an Arizona RV park that a store worker fired the shot that landed Williams in the hospital, authorities said.

“He said, ‘This is robbery, I want all the money in the cash register,’” store worker Richie Chapman said. “And as he said that, he drew a weapon from underneath his shirt, and I drew and fired.”

Yet another example of a disgusting piece of vermin being removed from the streets thanks to a proactive, licensed, trained, self-defense-oriented concealed-carry gun owner. Thank you National Rifle Association for fighting to preserve our right to keep and bear arms.

And while we don’t condone outright vigilantism — after all, we do believe in the rule of law and the proper execution of justice — and though we do understand the nature of a firefight and the extreme stress he was under, we can’t help but think the state and taxpayers would have been spared a considerable amount of time and expense by eliminating the endless stream of upcoming death row appeals had Mr. Chapman been able to finish the job.

After all, Williams did draw first, and you don’t make a bet you’re not willing to lose.
